Roger W. Manowski

Roger W. Manowski, 70, Weston, died Tuesday February 10, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born June 21, 1938, in Wausau, son of the late Michael Sr. and Edna (Tesch) Manowski. On January 19, 1990, he married Jean Gorzlanzyk in Wausau. She survives. Roger was a veteran of the US Air Force serving in Viet Nam and retired after 25 years of military service. Among his various positions were serving as a Medic Evacuation Technician, a flight examiner & instructor for Aeromed Technicians. He was a life member of both the Aeromed EVAC Association and the Airforce Sergeants Association. He was also a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post, No. 10, Wausau and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau. Roger was the former owner of the North End Pub, Wausau, was a member and past vice president of the Wisconsin Tavern League. Most recently he drove school bus for the DC Everest School District, retiring this past November. Survivors include his wife, Jean Manowski, Weston, step-daughter, Theresa (Rayon) Edwards, Wausau, three grandchildren, Keaton, Reanna and Xavier Edwards, one sister, Judy Dettmering, Machesney Park, Ill, sister-in-law, Nancy Manowski, Wausau. Besides his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a brother, Michael, brother-in-law, Gene Dettmering and nephew, Eugene Manowski. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Church of St. Anne, 700 W. Bridge Street, Wausau where full military honors will be conducted by members of the VFW. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, at a later date. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again from 10:30 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
