Roger L. Buchberger, 84, Wausau passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born February 23, 1942, in Wausau, son of the late Leo and Florence (Graveen) Buchberger. On September 15, 1962, he married Ramona Bauer at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2010.
For more than 35 years Roger worked at Metz Baking Corporation. He was a parishioner at St. Anne Parish, Wausau, a member of Knights of Columbus, and a proud graduate of the Newman High School in 1961. Roger was known to have a strong work ethic and will be known for his support of his favorite teams. The Packers, Brewers, Bucks and the Badgers.
Survivors include his children, Dr. Brian (Lisa) Buchberger, Rhinelander, Shelly (Michael) Prochnow, Wausau, Kim (James "Mike") Griffith, Zimmerman, MN, his grandchildren, Ryan (Melissa) Buchberger, San Antonio, Texas, Jessica (Joseph) Hansen, Appleton, Cassie (Mark) Rieth, Sheboygan, his great grandchildren, Hunter Buchberger, and Miles and Reese Hansen, his stepbrother, Ric (Joan) Zastrow, stepsister, Mary Lemirand, brother-in-law, Robert Rauscher, sister-in-law, Arlene Buchberger and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona, his parents, Leo and Florence Buchberger, three sisters, Grace Rauscher, Delores (Michael) Jablonski, Marlene Buchberger, one brother, Donald "Don" Buchberger, his father-in-law, Theodore "Ted" Bauer, mother-in-law, Irene Bauer, his brothers-in-law, Richard (Maxine) Bauer, Lamar (Nancy) Bauer, Kenneth (Carol) Bauer and a nephew, Randy Bauer.
A Memorial Service will be held at Noon, Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
