Robert "Bobby" J. Nilles

Robert John Nilles November 12, 1981 – March 4, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert John Nilles (43), who left us on the morning of March 4, 2025. Born in Wausau on November 12, 1981, to Bob and Terri (Williams) Nilles, he lived a life full of adventure, love, and dedication to family and friends.

A true outdoorsman, Bobby found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time on the water. Many of his happiest moments were at the family cabin, where his love for the outdoors began and where he passed that same passion down to his children. Whether on the boat, sand barring with friends, or out in the woods, he embraced the simple joys of nature and shared them with those he loved.

In 2003, he married his high school sweetheart, Sarah (Sorenson) Nilles, building a beautiful life together filled with love and laughter. Together, they raised three incredible children—Brandon (21), Zander (21), and Chloe (18)—who were his greatest pride and joy.

A hardworking and skilled craftsman, Bobby spent much of his life in construction, but his true pride came from his work in decorative concrete. Known for his generosity and wisdom, he was always the first to lend a hand, offering his knowledge and support to those he cared about.

He is preceded in death by his brother Brian Nilles, grandparents Ralph and Betty (Swetich) Nilles, and grandmother Florence Baumann.  He is survived by his beloved wife Sarah, their children Brandon, Zander, and Chloe, his parents Bob Nilles and Terri (Williams) Nilles, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were more like family.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau.  A celebration of life will follow at a later date.

Though his time with us was far too short, the memories he created, the love he shared, and the values he instilled in those who knew him will live on forever.

Rest easy, Bobby. Your legacy will never be forgotten.
