Robert Love Sr

Robert "Bob" Love, Sr., 82, of Marathon, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday Aug.6, 2005, at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Weston. Robert was born August 6, 1923 to the late James and Anna (Schuster) Love in Bethlehem, PA. He joined the Navy in 1941 with his 3 brothers and served until 1946. He married his wife of 49 years, Doris Jean Guthrie on October 29, 1955 in Waukesha, WI. He went into the welding profession for many years and after retiring from welding, became involved in the Community Action Program in Oconto where he served as supervisor for a Home Winterization team. Although he retired in 1985, he moved to Lansing, MI where he worked helping the elderly. His last employment was at the Stokely Canning Company in Merrill, WI. where he worked as a summer employee until they shut down. In his younger years, he loved to hunt, fish and work on his own automobiles. He was also a great home repair man and a jack of all trades. He was also a great vegetable gardener. He loved to get together with friends and family for a great game of poker. Throughout his life he was an avid reader and read anything just for the love of knowledge. Robert is survived by his wife Doris, Marathon; his daughters Beverly (Don) King, Washburn, Linda (Leslie) Grinder, Kenosha, Charlotte (Anthony) Watts, Muskegon, Mich., Robbin Kipp, Milwaukee, and Laurie (Steven) Goetsch Merrill; his sons Robert Love Jr., Wausau, Bradley Love, Wausau, and Michael Love, Schofield; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Kelly Love, Schofield and brothers Richard Love, Pa., Frederick Love, St. Louis, Mo., Bruce Love, Tucson, Ariz. and Anthony Love, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline; his son, Jeffrey; and three brothers; James, Henry and John. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. .
