Bob E. Pfaff, 80, Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. He was a caring and devoted husband, a loving father, and a treasured grandfather whose absence will be felt by all who knew him.
Bob was born on August 11, 1945, in Medford, Wisconsin, to Arthur and Edna Pfaff. On August 16, 1975, he married Barbara Ovel and together they had two daughters, Cindy and Laura. He is further survived by his granddaughter, Emma; his sister, Lucille Miller; four sisters-in-law, Pat Wunsch, Kathy Johnson, Joan Pfaff, and Ann Ovel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Pfaff; and three brothers-in-law, Leonard Miller, Dan Ovel, and Jack Wunsch.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for various construction companies throughout his 41-year career, retiring at the age of 62.
Bob was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing, especially on the Great Lakes. He was also an accomplished hunter, enjoying both bow and rifle hunting. He liked playing pool, listening to music, attending live shows and concerts, and watching stock car races. He had a passion for anything with an engine, especially cars, tractors, and construction equipment. He also enjoyed camping, road tripping throughout the country, and trying his luck "pulling levers" at the casino.
Bob was a kind and generous man who was always willing to offer his help and share his knowledge when needed. Larger than life, he had a warm and welcoming nature that made everyone feel comfortable. He was an amazing person whose kindness, humor, and presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
