Robert "Bob" M. Berndt, 69, Wausau, died Wednesday February 6, 2002 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
He was born October 12, 1932 in Wausau , son of the late Max and Helen (Schwantes) Berndt. On May 17, 1958 he married Joanne Weber in Colby. She survives.
Bob was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. As an electrical contractor he founded "Bobs Electric" in Wausau. His time was filled happily coaching little league, volunteering as a scout leader, hunting & playing cards, or most importantly spending time with his grandchildren. As a St. Matthew Catholic Church member he served as a former board member and was active in their Men's Club.
Survivors besides his wife, Joanne include his eight children, Suzanne (Michael) Klos, Walled Lake, Michigan; Joseph Berndt, Appleton; Sharon (Don) Tinjum, Wausau; Laura Berndt, Schofield; Michael (Pam) Berndt, Rothschild; Paul (Amy) Berndt, Wausau; David Berndt, Wausau; Teresa (James) Rihn, Wausau; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Walter (Wilma) Berndt, Schofield; Virgel (Pam) Berndt, Stevens Point, Sister-in-law; Sally (Wife of the late Arthur Berndt), three sisters; Dolly (Don)Carlson, Rhinelander, Jean Pierce, Colorado and Melonie Pierce, Georgia.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 9, 2002 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. John Parr will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau and again Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. There will be a Parish Vigil service 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
