Rita F. Prihoda, 98, Schofield, formerly of Marathon died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Kennedy Park, Schofield.
She was born September 18, 1916 in Halder, daughter of the late Edward and Amelia (Martin) Kurtzweil. On December 25, 1942 she married Sylvester "Sy" Prihoda in Gainesville, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2000.
Rita worked at Marathon Cheese for more than 20 years and also was a homemaker for her family of seven. She was a member of the Order of St. Francis, P.C.C.W at St. Mary Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #469, Marathon. Rita loved crocheting and especially loved her flower gardens. She will always be remembered for her flowers and her dry sense of humor.
Survivors include her children Alice Boehm, Marathon, Denise (Jim) Stroyny, Rib Mountain, Donald (Barbara) Prihoda, Eagan, Minnesota, Sylvester (Linda) Prihoda Jr., Marathon, Sara Prihoda, Hanover. MN, Joel (Susan Benjamin) Prihoda, Marina del Rey, CA and Monica Prihoda, Weston, 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, Elizabeth Kaiser, Edgar, Edwin (Angie) Kurtzweil, Edgar, Tom (Shirley) Kurtzweil, Mosinee, Margaret (Tom) Lirette, Denver, Colorado and Cecelia Schoenfuss, Edgar.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Roman, Donald and Anthony Kurtzweil and two sisters, Dorothy Rasmussen and Verene Stark.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church or School.
