Richard ''Dick'' Weiler

Richard "Dick" Weiler, 55, 6606 Lovers Lane Drive, Athens, died Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. Dick was born March 30, 1947 in Marathon county son of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Lueck) Weiler, Athens. He married Sylvia Goodwin October 14, 1967 in Ellicott City, Maryland. She survives. Dick was a dairy farmer in the town of Bern for 32 years. As a U.S. Marine he was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Andrew J. Sutter Post #8527 Veteran of Foreign Wares and the Chapman-Belter #4 American Legion of Athens and the Vietnam Veterans, Wausau. Woodworking and fishing, being in his shingle mill and wood shop were among his favorite things to do. Most of all he loved being with his children and grandchildren. Besides his wife, Sylvia, he is survived by one daughter, Theresa Weiler, Athens, three sons, Michael (Kandis) Weiler, Gainesville, Andrew Weiler, Menomonie, Robert (Sonja) Weiler, Ramsey, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Michaela and Mikey; four sisters, Sue (Dan) Lex, Marshfield, Doreen (Ed) Schultz, Athens, Linda (Tom) Ellenbecker, Athens, Kitty (Gordie) Roesler, Athens; three brothers, Dennis Weiler, Athens, John (Ruth) Weiler, Athens, Ken (Toni) Weiler, Elkhorn. He was preceded in death by one son, Doug Weiler; one daughter, Teresa Weiler; two brothers, Andy and Daniel Weiler. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens where there will be military graveside services. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being set up for Dick's late son, Doug.
