Richard F. Popp
86, 704 Mueller St., Athens, died Saturday, February 19, 2005 at his home.
He was born September 26, 1918 in Dundee, Ill., son of the late Fred and Anna (Schultz) Popp. On June 7, 1941, he married Carolyn Andersen in Dundee, Ill. She survives.
Richard moved to the area from Delavan in 1971, he was actively involved in farming in the town of Halsey until retiring in 1996. He loved sports, including baseball, wrestling and football. His passion besides attending church and farming, Rich especially enjoyed being with his beloved family.
Besides his wife, Carolyn Popp, Athens, survivors include two sons, Richard Popp Jr., at home and Gary L. (Kathy) Popp, Sr., Athens; one daughter, Marilyn (Gary) Skurzewski, Athens; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Christ United Church, Athens. Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christ United Church, Athens.
