Richard ''Dick'' Peters

Richard A. "Dick" Peters On October 3, 2001 Dick's heart gave its last beat, his eyes went closed and the oxygen machines were turned off as he went into eternal sleep. Dick was at University of San Diego Hospital being prepared to be taken to Wisconsin for a lung transplant. At his side was his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) Peters of Mesa, Arizona. They had been married a short time, but created many beautiful memories together. Dick was born September 9, 1939 to Arthur and the late Ruth Peters in Merrill. His family included James Peters, Nevada, John (Sharon) Peters and David Peters, both of Merrill, Mary (Ray) Hardy, Wyoming. A sister, Kathy (Paul) Renn, who went to her eternal rest on April, 2001. There are many other family members including a Special Aunt, Charlotte Peters, Merrill. He married Jeanne Roberts on December 26, 1957. She preceded his in death on November 30, 1996 Surviving children include Donna (Brandon) Zickerman, Brentwood, California, Theresa (Jerry) Seliger, Wausau, Mondell (Michele) Peters, Kronenwetter, Kim (Ruben) Gonzalez, Gilbert, California. Grandchildren, Matt, Melissa and Mitchell Kell, Jasmine and Isaac Zickerman; godchild, george Seliger; Megan, Marissa, Maxwell and Dylan Peters; Dominic Gonzalez. Dick served in the US Marine Corps for four years and then worked as a welder's helper until he reenlisted in the Army. After the service he went to work at a local bank and gas station before beginning his 30 year employment at Wausau Papers Brokaw Mill as a laborer where he worked with increasing responsibility until his planned retirement at age 55. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, bowling, cards and traveling. A man of few words, yet people who knew without asking where his heart was. He will be missed by all. A memorial service is scheduled fro 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS, Wausau. Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Immediately following the service, friends and family are welcome to visit in the parlors of the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at Trinity Lutheran Church/School and the family will forward a donation to the research of lung disease. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau is in charge of the arrangements.
