Richard L. Knauf

Richard L. Knauf 60, Marathon, died Saturday September 22, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born January 30, 1947, in Wausau, son of the late Louis and Helen (Franz) Knauf. On May 19, 1973, he married Jeanette Stieber at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives. Richard was the owner of the Marathon Bus Company for 29 years and was currently employed at Morgan Sand and Gravel. He was a member of the Marathon Lions Club and enjoyed snowmobiling, going to the cottage and was especially fond of the time spent with his grandchildren. He had served with the Army Reserves. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Knauf, Marathon, three sons, Joel (Jennifer) Knauf, Wausau and their sons, Joey and Johnny; Craig (Kory) Knauf, Stevens Point and their son, Cole; Robb (Kimberly) Knauf, Kronenwetter and their sons, Karter, Konner and Kyler; one brother, Robert (Virjean) Knauf, Marathon, two sisters, Patricia (Michael) Hau, Germantown, Mary (John) Rastl, Wausau, a brother-in-law, Leon (Bernadette Stieber) Thomas, Wausau, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon Tuesday September 25, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
