Richard J. Klumpyan

Richard J. "Richie" Klumpyan 65, Marathon, died Thursday December 1, 2011 at his home. He was born May 22, 1946, in Wausau, son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Hodny) Klumpyan. On January 2, 1971, he married Lia Olbrantz at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives. After graduation from DC Everest High School in 1964, he joined the Army and served his country during the Viet Nam War until 1968. He graduated from NTC with degrees in Drafting and Mechanical Design. For 36 years, Richard was a very devoted employee at Zimpro/Siemens retiring in 2010 as a Mechanical Engineer. Richie was a very talented, neat and detailed woodworker spending a great deal of time in his workshop, designing and building projects. This creative side led him to obtain a US Patent for one of his inventions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Packers and enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino in Bowler sometimes with winnings. Through the years he put together a great collection of fishing rods and reels. Above all, Richard was very proud of his two sons and he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Lia Klumpyan, Marathon, two sons, Kevin Klumpyan, Madison and Craig (Rebecca) Klumpyan, Marathon and beloved grandson, Carson; two brothers, Joseph (Etta) Klumpyan, San Antonio, Tex., Tom (Barb) Klumpyan, Schofield, step-father, Vilas Heinrich, Schofield, step-brothers, Alan Heinrich and Gordon (Kathy) Heinrich, all of Colorado, Bernard (Bev) Heinrich, Hatley, step-sisters, Linda (Ken) Koskey, Grand Forks, Annette Boller, Appleton, mother and father-in-law, Leonard and Ruth Olbrantz, Marathon, brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry (Cathy) Olbrantz, New Richmond, Linda Olbrantz, Marathon, Lois (Cliff) Laska, Marathon, Luann (Robert) Wiesman, Marathon, Lee Olbrantz, Marathon, Bill Miller, Rothschild, Mary Klumpyan, Schofield, Rita (Ron) Passow, Rib Mountain and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Klumpyan, a sister, Mary Miller, a brother-in-law, Lenny Olbrantz Jr., brother-in-law, Fred Boller and his beloved Black Lab, Daisy. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday December 5, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services all at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon.
