Richard "Dick" A. Schroeder

Richard “Dick” A. Schroeder, 80, Wausau died Monday, June 9, 2025, at his home, while under the care of Compassus Hospice.

He was born on August 20, 1944, in Wausau, son of the late Ervin and Margaret (Hahn) Schroeder. On February 12, 1966, he married Linda Zastrow at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wausau. She survives.

Dick worked at Wausau Papers in Brokaw for 42 years. In his earlier years he enjoyed attending gun shows and traveling with Linda.

Most recently Dick enjoyed hunting, doing yard work and spending time with his family. Dick will always be remembered for his love of German Shepherds and being an avid hunter. One of his favorite things to do was driving his 1995 Chevy dually pickup truck.

Dick proudly served his country in the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Schroeder, Wausau, his children, Todd (Jane) Schroeder, Wausau, Troy (Tammy) Schroeder, Three Lakes, Ted (Michelle) Schroeder, Wausau and Tiffany (Jeremy) Knopow, Muskego, his grandchildren, Adam (Andi) Schroeder, Bradley Schroeder, Corwin Schroeder, Griffin (Amancer) Schroeder, Willow Schroeder and Hudson and Hazel Knopow and one great grandson, Mason Schroeder and many nieces and nephews. Dick is further survived by his brothers-in-law, Elroy (Sharon) Zastrow and Arlin Zastrow and his sisters-in-law, Donna Kuhfal, Kathy Wistrom and Vicki Deckert.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ann “Tootie”, brother Allan and a sister-in-law, Joanne Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Burial will be in Mechanic’s Ridge Cemetery, town of Wausau. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice.
