Richard "Dick" A. Baker, 91, Wausau, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born October 30, 1924 in Rockford, Ill., son of the late Arthur and Helen (Gronberg) Baker. On June 7, 1947, he married Della M. Schult in Wisconsin Rapids. She survives.
Dick served in the United State Army during World War II as a M-5 tank driver in the Battle of the Bulge. For many years, he worked for the United States Postal Service as clerk and superintendent of mail.
Survivors include, his wife, Della Baker, Wausau; four children, Carrie (Tom) McNamara, Fruita, Colo., Joel Baker, Salem, Ore., Jonathan Baker, Wausau and Christopher Baker, Wausau; two grandchildren, Evan (Nicole) McNamara and Sarah (Jorge) McNamara; three-great grandchildren, Katherine, Marina and Leilani; two siblings, Lee Baker, Merrill and Barbara (James) Mattes, San Antonio, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Steven Gjerde will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in the town of Maine at a later date.
