Rev. John A. Wisneski 80, Weston, died Weds. July 27, 2011 at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston. He was born December 27, 1930 in Wausau, son of the late Roman and Helen (Lenard) Wisneski. He attended Salvatorian Seminary in St. Nazianz, graduating in 1949, then graduated from St. Francis Seminary, Milwaukee in 1957. On May 18, 1957, he was ordained at Christ the King Chapel at Holy Cross Seminary, LaCrosse. On June 4, 1957, he was assigned as Assistant Pastor at St. Anne Parish, Wausau and also as an instructor at Newman High School, Wausau. He became a full time assistant at St. Anne Parish on June 24, 1958. On June 3, 1959 he was assigned to St. John the Baptist in Marshfield as Assistant Pastor and on June 19, 1963 he was Assistant Pastor for St. Peter Parish in Stevens Point. On June 15, 1972, he was assigned to Immaculate Conception Parish, Custer as Pastor until August 28, 1980 where he transferred to St. Wenceslaus Parish, Milladore. On April 1, 1981, he was also appointed Parochial Administrator at Kilian Parish, Blenker. On May 26, 1988, he was also appointed Parochial Administrator at St. Mary Parish, Auburndale, and on July 31, 1991 he was also assigned as Pastor of St. Michael Parish, Junction City. He was released from responsibilities on January 15, 1992 from St. Mary Parish, Auburndale. Rev. John Wisneski was granted status of Senior Priest on March 31, 2005. He was a member of the Milladore Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus, Junction City. Survivors include, six siblings, Bernice Springer, Wausau, Robert Wisneski, Lubbock, Tex., Pat (Rita) Wisneski, Wausau, Tom Wisneski, Lubbock, Tex., William (Mary) Wisneski, Mesa, Ariz., and Nathalie Meilahn, Mosinee and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Hons, and one brother, Valerian "Val" Wisneski. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday August 1, 2011 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 146 Main Street, Milladore. The Most Rev. William P. Callahan, Bishop of the LaCrosse Diocese will preside along with the priests of the diocese. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1315 Sixth Street, Wausau where there will be a rosary service at 7:45 p.m. Sunday. Visitation on Monday will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at St. Wenceslaus Church, Milladore. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
