Raymond C. Schmidt 78, Kronenwetter, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Kennedy Park Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Schofield. He was born May 11, 1926 in Wausau, son of the late Herman and Esther (Brehmer) Schmidt. On January 25, 1945, he married Virginia Thompson in South Bend, Indiana. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2001. Ray was the owner/operator of Raybern Lighting, Wausau until retiring in 1990. He was one of the original founders and past president of the Stettin Lions Club and member of the Wausau Elks Club. He enjoyed fishing, bow hunting, bowling, gardening and woodworking. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Tom) Kester, Wausau and Linda (Doug) Trembath, Mexico, Missouri; two sons, Terry Schmidt, Rhinelander and Timothy Schmidt, Schofield; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Ethel Godde, Marathon; one brother, Bernard (Ann) Schmidt, Wausau. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Lois and three brothers, Vernon, Wilbert and Carl Schmidt. Funeral services will be Noon Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Restlawn Memorial Park Chapel, Wausau. Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at Restlawn. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may sent to the charity of your choice. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
