Raymond M. Sampson

Raymond M. Sampson, 73, a former Wausau resident, died Saturday, November 3, 2001 at his home in Madison. He was born February 3, 1928, in Dodgeville, son of the late John and Sylvia (Martin) Sampson. On February 23, 1949 he married Marjorie J. Edberg in Pittsfield, Illinois. She preceded him in death on January 7, 1995. Ray was a planning engineer for GTE prior to his retirement. He was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed camping at Lake DuBay Shores. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 410, Madison. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Ray Sampson, Madison; daughters, Janet Schroeder, Wausau, Cheryl Sampson, Madison, Linda Behn, Sartell, Minn; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a brother Larry Sampson, Racine; sisters, Miriam Gonzales, Moline, Ill, Judy (Robert) Hoenisch, Belleville, WI; and his dear friend Mary Schroeder, Dodgeville. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Richard and a sister Ina Lavon Davies. Funeral services will 1:30pm Thursday, November 8, 2001 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. S. Steve Foster will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at the Sixth Street funeral home.
