Raymond C. "Ray" Ruenger
86, town of Hewitt died Thursday August 2, 2012.
He was born April 21, 1926 in Wausau, son of the late William and Anna (Furgens) Ruenger. On January 5, 1952 he married Irene Meverden at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Ray was a heavy equipment operator for Merrill Sand and Gravel until his retirement. He also was a member of Operating Engineers #139. Some of his favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ray proudly served his country in the United States Air force.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Ruenger, Wausau, his children, Dale (Kathy) Ruenger, Birnamwood, Don (Kathy) Ruenger, Schofield, Greg Ruenger, Wausau, Pam (Mark) Raduechel, Aniwa, Garry (Tammy) Ruenger, Aniwa and Lana (Joe) Yakey, Antigo, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren and four sisters, Gertrude Juedes, Aniwa, Bernice Habeck, Wausau, Delores Wild, Weyauwega and Victoria Gierszewski, Wausau.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Wesenick and Florina Wesenick and two brothers, William and Vernon Ruenger.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. William Grevatch will officiate. Burial will be in Hogarty Riverside Cemetery, town of Harrison. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Ray's name.
