Ray Pias, 96, passed peacefully into the Lords' arms Wednesday September 14, 2005 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for the past three years. Ray was born March 13, 1909, in Racine son of the late Matt and Anna (Engbart) Pias.
Ray worked the farm in Ringle along with his brother Pete. After selling the farm in the fifties, Ray worked as a union organizer for the carpenters union and was a member of the union local. He then worked for Crestline Wood Windows, Wausau before retiring in the 1974. After retiring he built a new home on Wausau's north side, almost single-handedly with materials he had saved over the years,
Survivors include three grandchildren, Richard Mosier, Libertyville, Ill., Linda Mosier, Mt. Horeb, Randy Mosier, Wausau, a great-grandaughter, Kristi (Mike) Tulley, two great-great grandchildren, Brendan and Teagan, a sister, Anna Ashenbrenner, Nekoosa, and his special friend, Edna Salzman, Wausau and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Shirley and by a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Roy Mosier, September 8, 1996, four brothers, Pete, Joseph, Leo and Harry Pias and a sister, Mary Kreill.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday September 17, 2005, at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Burial will be in St. Florian Cemetery, Hatley. Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m. Friday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
