Raymond E. Meyer
81, 3103 Eagle Ave., Wausau, had death pronounced Saturday, April 9, 2005 after an apparrent drowning in December 2004.
He was born in Stratford, son of the late Edward and Regina (Adams) Meyer. On January 5, 1946, he married Rosemary Steiner in Stratford. She preceded him in death on December 23, 1991.
Ray was proud to have served his country with the Marines during World War II. Among his many award medals were three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post #388, Wausau and their Last Man's Club.
Prior to his retirement, Ray was employed as a machinist at the former Murray Machinery as well as doing seasonal concrete work. The Spirit Falls Lodge held a special place in Ray's heart, it provided him with companionship and camaraderie, in addition to his jobs of maintaining the roads and preparing an ample supply of firewood. Family was most important to Ray, and he truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren
Survivors include his children, Kenneth & Delores Meyer, Rib Mountain, Peter & Linda Meyer, Wausau, Mary & Larry LePage and Jean & David Christl, all of Green Bay; grandchildren, Tony LePage, Andrew & Jen LePage, Christopher Meyer, Jesse Meyer, Angela Meyer, Jenny Christl, Alex Christl, Zachary Christl and Benjamin Christl; siblings, Cora (Larry) Socha, Neenah, Beatrice Radenz, Wausau, Mae (Gerald) Allain, Wausau and Edward (Sharon) Meyer, Wausau.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Szekeress, Genevieve Busche, Alice Steiner and Esther Emerick and one brother, Leon Meyer.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2005 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again from 10:00 a.m. Friday unitl time of services at the church.
There will be a parish vigil at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Sixth Street funeral home.
