Raymond G. Dettmering, 89, Wausau, died Sunday, February 24, 2002 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
He was born June 5, 1912 in the town of Pine River, Wisconsin, son of the late Gustav and Anna (Helmstadter) Dettmering. On August 2, 1940, he married Margaret Hackbarth in Merrill. She survives.
Raymond was a welder for the D.J. Murray Manufacturing Company and retired in 1974 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and cards.
Survivors besides his wife Margaret, Wausau; include three sons, Gene (Judy) Dettmering, Machesney Park, Illinois, Dennis (Mary K.) Dettmering, Deerbrook, Wisconsin, Gary (Mary M.) Dettmering, Rothschild; three grandchildren, Todd Dettmering, Tammy Lenort, Nicole Dettmering; three great grandchildren, Kasey Lenort, Caleb Lenort, Jazlyn Lenort; one brother, George (Sylvia) Dettmering, Wausau; two sisters, Elaine (Herbert) Kufahl, Merrill, and Irene Rasmussen, Wausau. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon, Norman, and Lawrence Dettmering; and sisters, Lula Dettmering, Marion Kienitz and Eleanor Scharbius.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 28, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev. Dennis Pegorsch will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
