Ramona M. Bretl

Ramona M. Bretl 80, Wausau, died Monday, June 1, 2009 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at her home. She was born September 30, 1928 in Wausau, daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Brandt) Walters. On May 16, 1953, she married Joseph J. Bretl in Wausau. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1990. Ramona and Joseph owned and operated the former Reliable Beauty and Barber Supply for many years. Ramona had also been employed as a beautician. Among her many interests, she enjoyed camping, yardwork, travel, cruises and water aerobics at the YMCA with many good friends. She was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Ramona lived for her children and grandchildren and her special relationships with her friends were very important. Her courage, positive attitude and passion for life helped her through her last illness. Survivors include, one son, John (Nancy) Bretl, Menomonee Falls and their children, Katie Bretl, Daniel (Ruth) Bretl and Megan Bretl; three daughters, Patricia (Mike) Tatro, Wausau and their daughter, Tasha Rae Tatro, Susan (Ritchie) Nowak, Wausau and their daughter, Melissa Nowak and Dianne (Mark Loppnow) Terry, Wausau ; one sister, Joan Turner, Wausau; and one brother, Wayne (Tina) Walters, Nenana, Alaska. Besides her parents and husband, Joseph, she was preceded in death by one brother, Harlan Walters. The funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009 at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again from 9:30 a.m. Friday until time of services all at the church. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to P.A. Bruce Spatz, Dr. Jean Montgomery and the caregivers of Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the outstanding support shown to Ramona during her time with them.
