Ralph E. "Bill" Huntington 78, 3604 S. Mountain Road, Wausau died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Kennedy Park Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Weston after a short illness. He was born April 6, 1931 in Wausau, son of the late Ralph F. and Mildred (Holleran) Huntington. On July 8, 1953 he married Janet Doepke in Wausau. She survives. Bill was a mill right for over 38 years at Weyerhaeuser Co. in Rothschild retiring in 1991. In his younger years he enjoyed hockey, baseball and horseshoes but as time went on his true passions were hunting and fishing. He was a member of the NRA, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388 and also a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post # 10, both of Wausau. Bill was also a proud Green Bay Packers fan and was quite proud of his Packer Party Barn. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Survivors include his wife, Janet Huntington, Wausau, his siblings, Robert (Alice) Huntington and Ellen Richards, both of Wausau, two sisters-in-law, Joyce Huntington, Weston and Doris Erickson, Wausau, his companion and best friend, "Rocky" and his nieces and nephews, Lois (Jim) Kleiber, Ann (Dwight) Quaschnick, Bernie (Sue) Richards , Debbie (Frank) Moeller , Jean Stahl , Jill (Charles) Zeinert, Dennis (Geri)Huntington , Sue (Ted) Weeks, Scott (Sue) Huntington, Mike Russ, Wayne "Butch" (Debbie) Russ, Faye (Tom) Gordon , Fred Decker, Jr. , Gary (Shelly) Decker , Patti (Steve) Schneider, Marge Erickson-Ongna , Clark Erickson , Karen (David) Bauer. Special great nieces Andrea Schneider and Alison Ongna and many other great nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Huntington and LaVerne Huntington and one sister, Rosalyn Russ, nephew, Ron Richards, brother and sister-in-laws, Bernard Richards, Ellen Decker, Fred Decker Sr., Ogden Erickson and Fritz Doepke. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau where full military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post #388. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Marathon County Humane Society or Doepke Recreational Park.
