Phyllis "Philly" W. Wojciechowski
94, Schofield, went to Heaven peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Allison House, Schofield.
She was born May 4, 1917 in Split Rock, Wis., daughter of the late Louis and Clara (Sousek) Sabrowsky. On October 26, 1940, she married Raymond Wojciechowski at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1970.
Phyllis graduated from the Fennimore High School on June 1, 1934, and continued her education at the Marathon County Normal School, where she received her teaching diploma on June 17, 1936. Her 1936 class moto was "Let Us Be Remembered By Our Deeds". Phyllis taught her first year of school at the Wright School from 1936 - 1937. She also owned and operated the former Ray's Bar in downtown Athens, alongside her husband, Raymond, during the 1950's. For many years, she worked at Marathon Cheese Corp. until her retirement.
Phyllis was an active member of The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. She lived her life always caring about others needs before her own and she will be remembered by all for her generosity and giving deeds. Phyllis had a great sense of humor that will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include, two daughters, Marcia Carter, De Pere and Sharon Wallschlaeger, Wausau; six grandchildren, Michael (Nancy Young) Wallschlaeger, Brooklyn, N.Y., Randy (Brenda) Carter, De Pere, Julie (David) Prechel, Wausau, Jodi Carter, De Pere, Tami (John) Westcott, Green Bay and Ronald "Kip" (Pam) Carter, De Pere; eight great grandchildren, Zachary, Ashley, Jordan, Dominic, Erika, Ethan, Sidney and Patrick; one sister, Evelyn (Robert) Wachtl, Wausau; one sister-in-law, Lucille Myszka, Wausau; longtime friends, Al and Sue Meyer, Wausau; and other loving family and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Raymond, she was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Sabrowsky; and one son-in-law, Ronald Carter.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of servics at the church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Al and Sue Meyer for being Philly's guardian angels and for all their love and support. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Scott and Lori Rusch, Jen and the staff at the Allison House, Schofield and the staff at the Palliative Care Unit, Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the wonderful care given to Philly over the past few years.
