Phyllis A. Poverski 89, Wausau, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. She was born September 28, 1921 in Schofield, daughter of the late Bradford and Maude (Worden) Dolloff. Phyllis was baptized on June 28, 1943 and confirmed in September of 1944. On July 3, 1943, she married Leonard Poverski at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1995. Phyllis was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church since 1940. She was a member of the Rosary Confraternity and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Knit Club and the Senior Choir. In her younger years, she was employed at the former Marathon Bait. Among her many interests, Phyllis enjoyed bowling, swimming, fishing, knitting, tatting and helping others when in need. Survivors include, one sister, Opal Poeske, McHenry, Ill.; her nieces, Cheryl (Richard) Brincks, Crystal Lake, Ill. and Sally (Donald) Biere, Cary, Ill.; her great nephew, Patrick (Sheila) Schwartz, Wausau; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Dolloff, Riverside, Calif., Jackie Dolloff, Wausau and Mildred Dolloff, Wausau; one brother-in-law, Wallace Jehn, Rothschild; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews further survive. Besides her parents and husband, Leonard, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Ellwood and Clifford Dolloff; one sister, Annabelle Jehn; and one half-sister, Alice McGinley. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a rosary service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Michael Catholic Church Debt Retirement Fund.
