Phillip J. Gassner
75, Marathon, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born October 2, 1933 in Wausau, son of the late Phillip and Hildegard (Volhard) Gassner.
Phillip worked as a dairy farmer and enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include his brother, Lawrence (Catherine) Gassner, Wausau; nephews, Mark Gassner and Jerome Gassner, both of Wausau; nieces, Theresa Stubbe, Wausau and Mary (Jeff) Hall, Edgar, other aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and stepmother, Ella Henke.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon Saturday, January 3, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
