Peter J. Malak
78, 3016 13th Street, Wausau died Monday, September 17, 2001 at Howard Young Medical Center, Woodruff.
Peter was born August 30, 1923 in Wausau, son of the late Frank and Julia (Ptak) Malak. He married Mary Ann Faulkner June 29, 1963 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death October 26, 2000.
Peter owned and operated the Log Haven Bar from 1957 to 1965 and was also employed at Wausau homes for 18 years.
He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his wife and family at the cottage he built in Arbor Vitae.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Renee) Malak and Shaun Malak, all of Wausau and one grandson, Wesley Malak, Wausau.
Besides his wife, Mary Ann, and his parents, Peter was preceded in death by four brothers, Vincent, John, Anthony and James Malak and three sisters, Sophie Koehler, Ann Malak and Mary Gorham.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2001 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. The Very Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in Holy Angels Mausoleum, St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Sixth Street funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Peter's name is being established.
