Peter Lakus

Peter Lakus, 92, Wausau, died Tuesday July 3, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born March 21, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late John and Anastasia (Wostevaite) Leikus. On October 30, 1948, he married Agnes Fochs at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. She preceded him in death May 10, 1994. Prior to his marriage, Peter farmed with his father near Rudolph, east of Stevens Point and also in the Mosinee area. Being raised during the Great Depression, Peter developed a frugal nature and formed a responsible work ethic, where work was always done to the best of his ability. Reflecting the times he was raised in, Peter also enjoyed listening to the radio, camping, trips in the car and tending to the garden. Peter had been employed at Morley-Murphy in Wausau and worked 29 years for Greenheck Fan Corporation in fabrication until he was 76 years old. He was proud to be a member of the 25 year club at Greenheck. Survivors include one son, Bernie (Karen) Lakus, Wausau, two grandchildren, Jenna (Ben) Moscherosch, Waterford, Mich., John Lakus, Wausau. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruno and John Lakus. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 6, 2012 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. David Rybicki and Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 9:15 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 9:15 a.m. Friday at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
