Paulus H. Hoppenworth

Paulus H. Hoppenworth 83, Edgar, passed away peacefully, and surrounded by his family, Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Colonial House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Colby. He was born March 12, 1924 in Edgar, son of the late Henry and Alma (Tegtmeier) Hoppenworth. On November 7, 1946 he married Dorothy Ross. They raised eight children and were happily married for over 60 years. Paulus was a dairy farmer for over 50 years. He was previously a Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, choir member and Lutheran Brotherhood member of St. John Lutheran Church, ELCA, town of Wien. He was the town of Wien Clerk for 30 years, and FSA Reporter for over 37 years. Paulus enjoyed reading, gardening, watching his Green Bay Packers and spending time with his family and dog, Suki. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Hoppenworth, Edgar, five daughters, Dianne (Roger) Johnston, Grand Forks, N.D., Connie (Ron) Peterka, Antigo, Peggy (Michael) Koehmstedt, Rothschild, Trudy (Mark) Lindsley, DePere, Lori Burish, Edgar, three sons Larry (Jean) Hoppenworth, Stratford, LaRon (Debi) Hoppenworth and Jay (Chris) Hoppenworth, both of Edgar, 25 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Menger and an infant sister Margaret Hoppenworth and his brother-in-law, Marvin Menger. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church, ELCA, W1000 County Rd. N, Edgar. The Rev. Jeff Tarras will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Paulus name.
