Paul J. Tomcek

Paul J. Tomcek 94, Schofield, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home. He was born July 14, 1912 in the town of Harrison, son of the late Alfonse and Josephine (Brunner) Tomcek. On May 22, 1939, he married Theresa Marie Salzmann at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She preceded him in death on June 8, 2000. Following their marriage, Paul and Theresa lived in Wausau for four years, moved to Aniwa for one year until moving to the Gillett area in 1944, where they engaged in farming. In 1957, Paul started working for the Gillett Public School System as a custodian until his retirement in 1974. They moved to Schofield in 1980. Paul was a member of the Catholic Order of Forrester's since 1941, a life time member of the Holy Name Society and a 4-H Leader in Oconto County for 15 years. Among his many interests, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and playing cards and backgammon. Survivors include six children, Joan Moriarity, Holcombe, Ronald (Yvette) Tomcek, San Diego, Cal., William (Mary) Tomcek, Schofield, Steven (Nancy) Tomcek, Green Bay, Mary (Thomas) Miller, Big Falls and Leonard (Linda) Tomcek, Schofield; 24 Grandchildren; 25 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Granddaughter. Besides his parents and wife, Theresa, he was preceded in death by one brother, George; and two sisters, Elizabeth and Mary. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon Saturday, March 10, 2007 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weston. Rev. Joseph Rafacz will preside. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services all at the church. There will be a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service Friday at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
