Paul D. Springer
73, 208 6th St., Marathon, died Sunday, March 7, 2004 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida.
He was born March 28, 1930 in the town of Emmet, son of the late Paul and Blanche (Austin) Springer. On June 9, 1951, he married Virginia Linder at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives.
Paul was a heavy equipment operator for Knauf Brothers Construction and later for Belanger Granite. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at the cottage and traveling. Special to him was the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Virginia Springer, Marathon, survivors include five sons, David (Alice) Springer, Daniel (Nancy) Springer and Ernest (Mary) Springer, all of Marathon, Frederick (Patty) Springer, West Allis and Gerald (Brenda) Springer, Wausau; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; four brothers, William Springer, Robert Springer, Leonard (Janice) Springer, all of Edgar, and LaVerne (Jean) Springer, Wausau; two sisters, Delores Springer, Edgar and Rose (James) Karlen, Marathon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Patrick Springer and one brother, Edward Springer.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2004 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again from 10:30 a.m. Friday until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Marathon funeral home.
