Patrick Louis Babicky
65, 1704 Laguna Avenue, Weston, died Saturday February 15, 2003 at his home.
He was born December 24, 1937 in Wausau, son of the late Louis and Katherine (Franz) Babicky. On May 29, 1965 he married LaVada Kleinschmidt at St. Anne Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Patrick was g graduate of Newman High School, Wausau and attended the UW Stevens Point. For 27 years he had been employed with GTE as a switchworker retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In 1986 Patrick became the second Wausau resident to receive a heart transplant. His family and friends were inspired by his strength and courage in the more than 16 years that followed his surgery.
Among his favorite things to do were fishing, golfing, horseshoes, gardening, woodworking and his computer. Pat was a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family,especially his infant granddaughter.
Survivors besides his wife, LaVada Babicky, Weston, include a son, Gregory Babicky, Milwaukee, two daughters, Kay (Gregory) Aldrian, Ringle, Kris Babicky, Milwaukee, a granddaughter, Alyssa Aldrian, Ringle, two brothers, Thomas (Sherry) Babicky, Racine, James (Anna Mae) Babicky, Weston, a sister, Barbara (John) Foley, Rochester, New York.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday February 19, 2003 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Weds. from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Sixth Street funeral home.
