Patricia "Pat" Eckardt, 80, town of Maine, died Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born February 27, 1935 in Wausau, daughter of the late Frank and Charlotte (Stubinski) Bychinski. On October 10, 1953 she married John "Jack" Eckardt at St. Anne Catholic Church, Wausau. He survives.
Patsy worked at Wausau Insurance for a few years and also helped her husband Jack with the daily chores at their farm in the town of Maine. She was proud to be a housewife, staying home and raising her children. Some of her favorite pastimes included tending to her flower beds, listening to the scanner and spending time with her grandchildren. Patsy was a lifelong member of The Church of St. Anne and she was also a member of the Sympathy Circle there as well.
She was a loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Her accomplishments don't include awards, degrees or world travels, but she will be remembered more for her generous, one-of-a-kind personality. To know Patsy was to love her. From rummage sale finds to her always filled candy drawer, Patsy cared. Her patience and love for Jack was second to none including supporting his loves and passions from fishing to farming. "Grammy" loved and cared for all of her grandchildren - especially as babies. Never a Christmas passed without a batch of caramels, fudge and sea foam. Pat will be missed by many but we don't cry for her, we cry for ourselves because we know she died as she lived: on her own terms, at her control, surrounded by her family.
Survivors include her husband, John "Jack" Eckardt, town of Maine, her children, Sally (Bill) Gau, Wausau, Michael "Oz" (Elizabeth) Eckardt, town of Maine and Mary (Doug) Seidl, Mount Horeb, eight grandchildren, her siblings, Valerin (Donna) Bychinski, Spencer, Lucy (Ray) Kurszewski, Wausau, David (Kay) Bychinski, Wausau, Tom (Sharon) Bychinski, Reedsburg and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Marcel Bychinski, Theresa Sprouse and and infant sister, Rita Bychinski.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Noon, Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Matthew Marshall will preside. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine.
