Orville N. Heinz, 84, Wausau, died Sunday February 13, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born October 17, 1937, in Wausau, son of the late Orville W. and Ruth (Wangard) Heinz. On August 29, 1959, he married JoAnn Shipway at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Orville was a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard and was activated in 1961-62. Prior to his retirement, Orville was an accountant and retired as CFO of what is now known as Midwest Communications. In earlier years, he was General Manager of Wright’s Music. Among his favorite pastimes, Orville enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Harrison Hills, reading, especially Readers Digest and teaching accordion to many students through the years. He played accordion with the Nu-tones and several area polka bands. Orville was also a member of the American Legion, Montgomery Plant Dudley Post No. 10 and the Wausau Elks Lodge No. 248.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn; three sons, Mark (Rev. Amy) Heinz, Colby, Jeffrey Heinz, Ringle, Corey (Roya) Heinz, Merrill; grandchildren, Jonathan, Benjamin, Alexander, Nicholas, Jaida, Peyton; sister, Joan M. Heinz, Wausau.
Besides his parents, Orville was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Diane Heinz.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 19, 2022, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Samuel Martin will preside. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The funeral will be livestreamed on the Peterson/Kraemer Facebook page and also available for viewing on the funeral home website on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
