Orville A. Anklam, 77, Wausau died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 27, 1939 in the town of Maine, son of the late Raymond and Elvera (Dehnel) Anklam. On September 3, 1960 he married Marilyn Gumtz at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Naugart. She preceded him in death on December 15, 2003.
Orville worked at Witter Dairy, Crestline and drove truck for Riser Oil. Some of his favorite pastimes included camping, playing cards, especially BlackJack, Hand and Foot and Bingo. Volunteering at the Salvation Army was a rewarding experience for Orville and he enjoyed the time he spent there. Orville also was a member of the Central Wisconsin Polka Club and was a crossing guard in Wausau for many years.
Survivors include his children, Roxanne Schroeder, Wausau and her children, Melissa (Alex Ninnemann) Schroeder and Jacob Schroeder; Brenda (Delbert) Tesch, Wausau and their sons, Delbert Jr. "DJ" (Autumn) Tesch and Jeremy Tesch; Russell (Maureen) Anklam, Marathon and their son, Zachary, one great grandson, Keegan Tesch and his sister-in-law, Joan Anklam, Wausau and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Anklam and two granddaughters, Heather Tesch and Anna Schroeder.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 5304 N. 44th Avenue, town of Maine. The Rev. Dan Sire will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Orville's name. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the kind and friendly staff and residents at Rennes Rehab Center of Weston where Dad called home for the past two years. He was never afraid to talk to anyone, and by the time the conversation was done you were family.
