Ora E. Nauta

Ora (Geurink) Nauta 97, Wausau and Minocqua, died Weds. January 21, 2009 at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Weston, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born August 10, 1911, in Wausau, daughter of the late Henry and Effie (Jensama) Geurink. On June 29, 1932, she married Wiebe Nauta in Wausau. He preceded her in death in 1992. Ora and Wiebe owned and operated the W.O. Nauta Trucking business for 20 years. In 1956, they moved to the Woodruff area where they owned the Woods Motel and the Minocqua Laundry Mat and Dry Cleaning. During her time up north, she was a very active in the United Methodist Church of the Pines where she was a member of their Martha Circle and the Keenagers Group. Survivors include a son, James (Karen) Nauta, Wausau, a son-in-law, Art Leider, Marinette, grandchildren, Dale (Vicky) Leider, Jay (Kim) Nauta and Chad Nauta, a granddaughter, Denise Maxson, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, one step brother, Robert (Lorraine) Holster, Wausau and one step sister, Annie Geurink, Wausau. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Leider, two granddaughters, Sandra and Peggy, one grandson, Dean, five brothers, John, Jesse, Elmer, Hilbert, and Floyd Geurink, two sisters, Clara TenHaken and Ruth Nauta and a step brother, Peter Holster. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday January 24, 2009 at New Hope Community Church, E1045 So. Hwy. J, Wausau. Rev. Dan Eisnor will officiate. Burial will be in Forestville Cemetery, town of Easton. Friends may call on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
