Norman J. Sorenson died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. Norman had recently returned to Wausau from Ocala, Fla., where he had been living in retirement for the past six years. Norman settled in the Wausau area in the early 1960's to take a managerial position with Drott Manufacturing and he eventually became the plant manager. Norman also held executive positions with Drott's successor, J.I. Case.
Norman enjoyed all kinds of sports and particulary enjoyed following NASCAR racing and the Packers.
The true joy of Norman's life was his wife, Priscilla. They were married 53 years and were inseparable until Norman's death. Norman was a devoted husband and a great father to his five children.
Norman's survivors inlude his wife, Priscilla, of Wausau; two daughters, Cheryl (Jeff) Gutknecht, Wausau, Debbie (Warren) Fletcher, Ocala, Fla., three sons, Bob (Cindy) Sorenson, Joplin, Mo., Richard Sorenson of Denver and Ronald (Carrie) Sorenson of Merrill. He had 12 grandchildren, Gloria (Dave) Campbell and Tim Gutknecht, Wausau, Andrew Fletcher and Andrea Fletcher of Ocala, Joseph Sorenson of Colombus, Ohio, Brianna Sorenson and Rachel Sorenson of Joplin, Jason Sorenson, Angelo Sorenson and Alexander Sorenson of Denver, and Justin Soreenson and Allen Sorenson of Merrill. He had two great grandchildren, Courtney Mueller and Joel Sherwood, both of Wausau.
Norman was a good and honorable man and he wil be missed by all the lives he touched.
Services will be 5:00 P.M. Friday, June 13, 2003 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 3400 Stewart Avenue., Wausau, with the Rev. Keith Haldeman officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and immediately folllowing the service.
