Norma B. Rome
87, formerly of 500 Grand Ave, Wausau, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau.
She was born February 24, 1918 in Farmington, daughter of the late Louis and Emma (Wille) Marg. On July 1, 1943 she married Alfred Rome in Watertown. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1973.
Norma was raised in the Watertown area. While there she worked at the Watertown Memorial Hospital as a dietary cook. She was a member of the Moravian Church in Watertown, the Watertown AARP and also assisted with Watertown Meals on Wheels until her move to Wausau. Here, she became a member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church. Norma was also a member of the Cursillo, a Christian renewal movement having served on various teams in the past.
Survivors include her children Roger (Jeanne) Marg, Mosinee, Gary (Linda) Doerflinger, Friendship, stepson, Alfred (Tsuru) Rome, Hampton Va., one sister, Isabelle Froh, Richland Center, 10 grandchildren, Dave (Lori) Marg, Mosinee, Jeffrey Marg, Wausau, Margaret (Floyd) Conrad, Mosinee, Heide (David) Maginn, Kenosha, Suanne (John) Funk, Kenosha, Gary John Doerflinger, Friendship, Dian (Raymond) Hafer, Hampton, Va., George Rome, Hampton, Va., Rachel (Peter) Chou, Spring Hill, Fla., Louise Meske, Madison, 6 step grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, one step sister, Lois (Gordon) Hensler, Beaver Dam, along with many nieces and nephews. Norma is further survived by her extended family of Lois and Tom Mazur, Friendship and their family.
Besides her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by a step daughter, Nancy Rome Burton and one brother in law, Orville Froh.
Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, Wausau. The Rev. David Klutterman will officiate. Burial will be in North Geneva Cemetery, Town of Geneva. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services all at the church.
