Norbert N. Kitowski
88, Wausau, died Friday December 18, 2009 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born November 26, 1921, in Wausau, son of the late Leo and Mary (Kutella) Kitowski. On April 3, 1943, he married Doris Jojade in San Antonio, Texas. She survives.
Norbert had been employed at the former Curtis Company, Keebler Cookie Company and retired from the US Postal Service in 1983. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the US Army and participating in the Battle of the Bulge.
Among his various involvements, Norbert was a member of the American Legion, Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post No. 388 and was an active member of the Wausau Elks Lodge No. 248. He enjoyed ice fishing, golfing and was an avid fan of both the Packers and Badgers.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Kitowski, Wausau one son, David Kitowski, Wausau, several nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jeff, one sister, Martha Graykowski and one brother, Raymond Kitowski.
An Elk's Lodge of Sorrow will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday January 4, 2010 followed by a Memorial Service at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Rev. Gerald Pehler OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King, Wisconsin. Friends may call on Monday January 4, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
