Norbert "Norb" B. Heindl, 91, Athens, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at the University Hospital, Madison.
He was born April 24, 1918 in Athens, son of George and Anna (Zettler) Heindl. On June 25, 1945, he married Elaine Richards at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Evanston, IL. She preceded him in death on October 15, 1993.
Norb served his country for five years in the United States Army during World War II. He farmed in rural Athens, owned and operated Norb's Grocery Store in Athens and worked for Fiskars, Wausau. He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and Athens Lions.
Survivors include his son, Daniel (Joan Palmer) Heindl, Madison; three grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah Lemke), Blue Mounds; George and Barbara, both of Madison; and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.
