Nina E. Dettmering
87, 129 First Street, Brokaw, died Monday September 2, 2002 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at her home.
She was born February 26, 1915 in the town of Pine River, daughter of the late Robert and Jane (Chase) Kufahl. On August 7, 1937 she married Harvey Dettmering in Pine River. He preceded her in death August 17, 2001. The Dettmerings enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
Nina was a Charter Member of the Harmony Homemakers and a former employee of Wausau Paper Mill, Brokaw. She enjoyed fishing at their cottage, gardening, dancing, bowling and was well-known for her wonderful baked goods. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne (Diane)Dettmering, Brokaw, Donald (Nancy) Dettmering, Merrill and Martin (Janet) Dettmering, Mosinee, seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren, one brother, Ellsworth (Joyce) Kufahl, Pine River and one sister, Mildred (Frederick) Latzig, Merrill.
Besides her husband and parents, Nina was preceded in death by five sisters, Alice Hirnschall, Delores Lemke, Marjorie Kufahl, Eileen Schmidtke and Norma Fox and one daughter-in-law, Harriet (Hanson) Dettmering.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday September 5, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Joel Schmalz will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Weds. from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau and again on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
