Neil G. Schmidt, 76, 210 W. Oak Street, Edgar, died Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Continental Manor Nursing Home, Abbotsford.
He was born December 11, 1927 in Edgar, son of the late Ewald and Sophie (Wilner) Schmidt. On December 30, 1947 he married Virginia Blyton in Edgar. She survives.
Neil was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Sawyer-Drumn Post No. 393, Edgar. He was the owner and operator of Schmidt Plumbing and Heating, Edgar for many years and later became associated as a planner with Sterling Drug, formerly known as Zimpro. Neil enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors besides his wife Virginia Schmidt, Edgar include two sons, Gary (Faye) Schmidt, Wausau, William Schmidt, Edgar; four daughters, Joyce (Richard) Zuehlsdorf, Waterford, Marilyn Franke, Edgar, Vicki (Mike) Maurer, Edgar, Jill Schmidt, Edgar; 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Doris) Schmidt, Neenah and one sister, Carol Schmidt, Schofield. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild, Amanda and one son-in-law, Michael Franke.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2003 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Edgar. The Rev. Linda M. Dutton will officiate. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery with military rites being performed by the Edgar American Legion and V.F.W. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
