Ned W. Kane
83, Wausau, died Saturday June 23, 2007 at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau.
He was born February 1, 1924, in Wausau, son of the late John and Nellie (Howard) Kane. On August 30, 1947, he married Delores Torzewski at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death December 20, 2002.
Ned proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II and was involved in several campaigns in the South Pacific. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post No. 388, Wausau and their Last Man's Club.
Prior to his retirement, Ned had been employed for many years at the former American Can Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and growing beautiful, champion roses. Spending time with family was special to Ned, especially with his grandchildren. He was a longtime, faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church and also looked forward to the comaraderie of his many friends at the mall.
Survivors include two sons, Rev. Michael Kane, Boca Raton, Fla., Richard (Dawn) Kane, Shawano, two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Samantha and one brother, Kenneth (Loretta) Kane, Wausau.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie and a brother, Jack.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Weds. June 27, 2007 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Michael Kane and Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Weds. from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
