Naomi A. Cline, 92, Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Artisan Assisted Living.
She was born March 3, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Sylvester and Helene Hakemeier. Before her marriage she worked at Buss Fuse and during World War II at the St. Louis Ordinance Plant. She met her future husband, John A. Cline, on a blind date. He was stationed at Scott Air Field, Illinois, before going overseas. After his return they were married on May 11, 1946 and enjoyed 57 years together until John's death on June 23, 2003.
They lived in Milwaukee until 1963 when they moved to Wausau where John worked for the Milwaukee Road Railroad. Naomi was also employed at Milwaukee Road as the Roundhouse Clerk for nine years, until her retirement.
For much of their married life Naomi and John enjoyed traveling, first going by train to the Badlands, Yellowstone and Seattle when their children were young. In their later years they traveled to all but two of the lower 48 states in their motor home. They became "snowbirds", wintering in Columbus, New Mexico for over 20 years.
Survivors include two sons, John Cline, Jr. and Gerald (RoJeana) Cline, and one daughter, Susan (Albert) Meyer, all of Wausau. She is further survived by her four grandchildren, David (Kelly) Bandock, Wausau, Andrew (Lori) Cline, Sun Prairie, Amy Cline and Kate Cline, both of Green Bay; step-grandchildren, James Reuter, James Raisanen and Shannon Raisanen, all of Wausau; nine great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Carly, Jacob, Ethan, Brody, Saige, Jonathon, Wesley and Zane.
Besides her parents and husband, John, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Bandock, sister, Arline (Raleigh) Martin and brother, Neal (June) Hakemeier, sisters-in-law, Mary Rauch, Kathy (Jim) Spear and Ruth (Claude) Altig.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, 621 N. 2nd Street, Wausau. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Carla and nurses from Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, and to Jodi and the staff of Artisan Assisted Living for the wonderful care they gave to our mother during her final months.
