Nancy (Backes) McCarthy 59, Wausau died Monday, August 5, 2002 in Pearson, WI She was born April 4, 1943 in Oconomowoc, daughter of Donald and Viola (Lacey) McCarthy Sr., McAllen, Texas. Nancy has been a Wausau resident since 1964. She worked as a caseworker for Marathon County Department of Social Services since 1986. Besides her parents, she is survived by one daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Thompson, Two Rivers; three grandchildren, Tiffany, Samantha and Nicholas; nine brothers, Dan (Darlene) McCarthy, Pearson, Babe (Flora) McCarthy, Guinn, Michigan, Jim McCarthy, Milwaukee, Terry (Trisha) McCarthy, Oconomowoc, Ron (Trisha) McCarthy, Burnsville, Minnesota, Dennis (Susan) McCarthy, Hartland, Goeff (Dawn) McCarthy, Quartz Hill, California, Keven (Cindy) McCarthy, Lancaster, California and Tracy (Cathy) McCarthy, Oconomowoc. She is preceded in death by one son, Shawn Backes and one brother, John McCarthy. Memorial services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2002 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until time of services at the 6th St. funeral home.
