Myrtle M. Ramthun
92, formerly of 500 E. Thomas Street, Wausau, died Saturday September 3, 2005 at the home of her daughter in Shepherd Montana, where she had resided for the past nine months.
She was born December 31, 1912 in the town of Texas, daughter of the late John and Mary (Neitzke) Chiber. She attended Wausau High School and the Marathon County Normal School. Upon graduating, she started teaching in a one room rural school outside Wausau. In 1932, she married Clarence "Hans" Ramthun. For 12 years she taught in Marathon County before moving to the Lakeland area in Northern Wisconsin. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Boulder Junction and after teaching for 25 years in Land O'Lakes and the Boulder Junction area, she retired June 5, 1975. She lived in Wausau and Brokaw since 1983 and she was a member of the North Texas Homemakers Club for many years. Among her favorite things to do were, crocheting, reading, playing cards and teaching her grandchildren her love of knowledge and the great northwoods.
Myrtle is survived by three children, a son, Alan (Kathy) Ramthun, Wausau, two daughters, Dawn (Mel) Petty, Shepherd, Mont. and June (Tony) Weber, Dallas, Tex., 11 grandchildren, Lynn Larson Douglas, Tari Larson, Robert Larson, Richard Larson, Paul Ruechel, Anthony Weber, Timothy Weber, Tina Ramthun Clark, Ryan Ramthun, Jason Bird and Stacy Habeck. Myrtle is further survived by 12 great-grandchildren, Alexandra Weber, David, Gavin and Jonathan Larson, Katherine and Austin Weber, Cooper Clark, Joseph, Amanda and Nicholas Custode, Alexandra and Jacob Habeck; two sisters, Fern Kittel and Evelyn Teige.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1982, her son, Donald in 1992, three sisters, Adalia Krueger, Verna Jaecks and Alice weber, and by a granddaughter, Lori Larson Cox in 2005.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 10, 2005 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Riverview. Rev. John Meachen will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery, Town of Texas. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
