Myrtle E. Platzek

Myrtle E. Platzek 93, Athens, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield. She was born July 30, 1917 in Medford, daughter of the late Emil and Marie (Frischman) Ramm. On October 18, 1944 she married George Platzek in Medford. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1998. Myrtle enjoyed quilting and sewing. Survivors include her children, Richard (Patricia) Platzek, Stratford, Roger (Zona) Platzek, Big Bend and Janice (David) Hahn, South Milwaukee; six grandchildren, Lowell (Sara), Russell, Laura (Chris), Douglas, Elisa (Heath) and Melanie (Dave); nine great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Burial will be in Athens Village Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services all at the Athens Funeral Home. A special thank you to good friends and neighbors who provided assistance to Myrtle in her later years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christ United Church, Athens.
