Myron R. Tapper

Myron R. "Mike" Tapper 87, Wausau, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Tuesday, August 14, 2007. Mike was born February 22, 1920 in the town of Wausau, son of the late Helmuth and Alma (Raduechel) Tapper. On June 28, 1946 he married Ethel Kell-Weiland at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. She survives. Mike worked for Wausau Oil Co. from 1956-1970 and then as a custodian for Zion Lutheran Church until his retirement in 1982. Mike was a long time resident of 824 Lincoln Avenue, Wausau and recently resided at 400 River Drive, Wausau. Mike and Ethel spent 46 summers at their cottage in the north woods where Mike found relaxation fishing on Long Lake. He was very skilled at woodworking and his many home made gifts will be treasured by his family and friends. Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII from May 1942 to January 1946. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Ethel Tapper, Wausau, his children, Judith (James) Guilbault, Necedah, Sharon (Robert) Zimmerman and Gary (Judith) Tapper, both of Wausau, two brothers, Elroy (Maryann) Tapper and Gordon Tapper, both of Wausau, one sister Beth (Turk) Flory, Weston; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Tapper, Wausau and Esther Tapper, La Mesa, California, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Gilbert, Leslie and David Tapper. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. Matthew Hein will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave., Wausau.
