Murray Stephen Kellman, 90, of Wausau and Lakeland, Fla., passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 in Lakeland.
He was born January 30, 1923 in New York City, son of the late Max and Frances Kellman.
Steve was a decorated World War II veteran of the United States Army and served in the Allied invasion of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944. After having been wounded twice, he was assigned to General Eisenhower's command post where he met his future wife, Mary F. Pentland. They were married after the war in Scotland and returned to America in 1945. Steve often visited the veterans memorials in Washington and many overseas.
He spent over 60 years in the shoe industry, primarily in sales and marketing, and retired as Vice President and part owner of the Weinbrenner Shoe Company in Merrill, Wisconsin.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Scotland native, Mary F. Kellman, who accompanied him on many world travels after their retirement.
Survivors include, two sons, Thomas (Marisol) Kellman, Lakeland, Fla. and Ian (Jennifer) Kellman, Wausau; and two grandchildren, Alex and Rita Kellman.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. There will be full military honors at 7:00 p.m. conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
