Muriel Pyan
81, 3255 4th St., Marathon, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
She was born February 1, 1922 in Marathon, daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Hahn) Kirstein. On September 15, 1945, she married Milo Pyan in Marathon. He survives.
After marriage, she helped on the farm in Marathon for several years, worked for Marathon Community Press taking ads and writing local news articles and Kraemer Funiture Store, Marathon for many years. Muriel has resided in the Kirstein family home from the time of her birth. She was very involved in genealogy and at one time put together several family history books after doing extensive research. Muriel enjoyed traveling. She was a 60-year member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, Court No. 850, Marathon.
Besides her husband, Milo, Marathon; survivors include four daughters, Barbara (Gene) Sass, West Bend, Pamela (George) Zaboklicki, Muskego, Kay (Floyd) Enzenbach, Marathon and Joan (Greg) Gordon, Milwaukee; two sons, Terrence (Jacki) Pyan, Marathon and Charles (Lori) Pyan, Crystal Lake, Ill; Thirteen grandchildren, Troy (Sheila) Pyan, Michelle Pyan, Kim Schoenrock, Travis (Tara) Pyan, James Gaffney, Jerry Zaboklicki, Kelly (John) DeLuka, Stacey (Paul) Vincent, Carl Enzenbach, Philip and Justin Gordon, Nicholas and Victoria Pyan; seven great grandchildren, Craig, Kira and Courtney Schoenrock, Zachary and Zeth Pyan, Mina Gaffney and Kirsten DeLuka; one sister, Dolores Koppa, White Bear Lake, Minn.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Louise Kirstein, Marie Manley, Evelyn Wishowski and Patty Wirt; three brothers, Joseph, Leander and Walter Kirstein.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. David Olson will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon where there will be a 7:00 p.m. rosary service conducted by the National Catholic Society of Foresters and again from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
